If you visited the merch booth at Track 29 during our very first The South Rail Presents event Friday night, then you might be one of the lucky people who purchased the brand new EP from Birmingham, Alabama’s Banditos! The 6-song disc is called ‘Everybody Goes To Milo’s’ and was nicely packaged in a brown paper bag accompanied with a Budwiser label style Banditos sticker.
In addition, from that EP’s first track comes the new single ‘Cry Baby Cry’ that is available for FREE download below, if you didn’t get ‘yer hands one of these hand-made suckers! More details to come with this EP, but until then, stream/download the single below and get ready for BIG things from this up-and-coming band who put on one hell of a live show! And see their full live dates HEREto get an EP in-person:
Chattanooga locals Moonlight Bride and Machines Are People Too have both separately released some pretty tight EPs the past week. The albums are on each band’s Bandcamp page and are available for free download for a limited time:
Moonlight Bride’s latest is a 6-song EP of remixes from their February 2012 release Twin Lakes. The EP features tracks by Summer Dregs, Machines Are People Too and a killer remix of the Twin Lakes’ single ‘Lemonade’ by Los Campesinos! Stream the album below and if ya dig, download it HERE for the low cost of your email address:
Machines Are People Too’s latest is called ‘Dreams’ and is the band’s first official studio release. The EP includes 5 original tracks produced by Lars Stalfors(The Mars Volta, Matt & Kim). A great independent effort from one of the hardest touring bands in town. Stream the EP below, and again, if ‘yer diggin’ it, download it HERE for FREE:
As we told you earlier this year, Natural Child planned on dropping 3 LPs in 2012 — The reissue of ‘Bodyswitchers’ in March (originally released on cassette via Infinity Cat) and ‘For the Love of he Game’ that dropped on Burger Records on April 20th, and now ‘Hard In Heaven,’ which is also coming out via Burger Records on September 11th!
The first single from ‘Hard In Heaven’ is a track called ‘B$G P$MP$N,’ and in per a typical Natural Child fashion, simplistically and almost effortlessly kills it once again… Check out the hot track below and also catch Natural Child all over this US this Summer! And if you live in Texas, the Nashville 3-piece just announced an 8-city mini tour focused just on the Lone Star state w/ Birdcloud… How ’bout bring that kind of line-up to Chattanooga? Just sayin’…
And since we’re talkin’ Birdcloud, check out the video to their latest single HERE… enjoy:

Thee Oh Sees are one of our favorite touring live acts out there right now… scratch that. They’re one of our favorite bands, period. With that said, today was extremely special because we got to hear the very first track from their upcoming ‘Putrifiers II’ LP, which drops from In the Red Records on September 11th… and per fashion, it is oh so good!
September 11th is really becoming the major release date so far! Along with Thee Oh Sees expect new tunes from Turbo Fruits, Avett Brothers, and Natural Child’s promised 3rd LP of the year!
But not to get side-tracked… Check out the single ‘Lupine Dominus’ below and check back with In the Red at a later date to pre-order ‘Putrifiers II’HERE… Also catch the band live at any of the dates below. For us Chattanooga kids, pick from Nashville, Atlanta or Birmingham… We highly recommend the Nashville show at The Zombie Shop w/ Ty Segall:

Last time we were on the subject of Denney and the Jets, the band had just released a Chuck Berry cover featuring Those Darlins’ Jessi Darlin — See full post here — and were wrapping up an EP at Bomb Shelter Studios in Nashville.
Well, not only did they deliver another great gem, but with an album title of ‘Slick Rick,’ are in the running for best album name for 2012… Check out these 4 killer tracks before and if you dig what you hear, download the 4-song EP HERE and get the bonus track ‘Close the Blinds’ with your download!
But, if we were to criticize, our only complaint is, unlike their Infinity Cat debut, this sucker isn’t available on vinyl… Very turntable worthy tunes:
A lot of people asked us after the Those Darlins show this Saturday at Track 29, “What happened to Kelley Darlin?” And the answer we had was the same: “Kelley [whose real last name is Anderson] left the band a couple months ago to work on other projects and is now fronting a new band called Grand Strand.”
We too were very upset by the news of Anderson’s departure from Those Darlins, but just seconds into hearing Grand Strand’s fantastic debut single ‘Cactus Blooms,’ we quickly embraced this new career change and found ourselves hungry for more. The 7-inch single for ‘Cactus Blooms’ will be out later this month on Riot House Records followed by a full length in the future.
But no worries, you’ll be able to experience Grand Strand sooner than you’d expect! The new band is hitting the road this month opening for Richard Lloyd of Television, a tour that is dropping by Chattanooga’s Lindsey Street Hall June 20th! We can’t wait! But until then, stream the new single and check out the full June tour dates below:
