Video of the Week is a new thing we are trying out here at The South Rail. You can find it in the top right corner of the site…
This week’s Video of the Week is: The Dirty Lungs ‘Your Wrong’
If you haven’t seen The Dirty Lungs live, GO DO SO! This Psychedelic Rock 5-piece from Birmingham, AL puts on one hell of a show. Which is why we love this video for Your Wrong… showing one of their strong points: Great live energy and sound!
Best Coast and Jeff the Brotherhood have teamed up to release a 7″ split via Volcam this week. Each side of the split’s artwork was personally designed by each band and printed on translucent pink vinyl. Check out the tracks below… Side A features Best Coast’s ‘Sunny Adventure’ and Side B features Jeff the Brotherhood’s ‘Bummer.’
If you still can get a hold of one, you can try either HERE at Volcom’s Vinyl Club, or via Jeff the Brotherhood’s label Infinity Cat HERE
Also, Best Coast’s new video for their 2010’s ‘Crazy For You’ title track debuted this week via I Can Has a Cheezburger… Kind of unusual to premiere on a humorous cat blog, but once you see the video you’ll understand:
Jack White & Co released the new video for the upcoming Wanda Jackson album via AOL earlier today. The video features the “Queen of Rockabilly” Wanda Jackson, Jack White and the Third Man house band doing their take of Bob Dylan’s ‘Thunder on the Mountain’ … a Dylan cover that was hand selected for Wanda Jackson by no-other than Dylan himself. The video was shot on location at United Record Pressing in Nashville where they were pressing the vinyl copies of the LP.
The track is featured off the Jackson’s Jack White-produced solo record ‘The Party Ain’t Over,’ which is out January 25th via Third Man Records… Stream the full record here via NPR… and pre-order the album here. The first 1,000 album preorders receave an exclusive poster print from the legendary Hatch Show Print letterpress printers in Nashville in a limited edition Greeting Card Gatefold. Amongst the people who pre-order the LP, 100 will have a chance at the fuchsia-colored vinyl discs that have been randomly inserted.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from Tapes n’ Tapes… but based off the single “Freak Out,” the first release from their upcoming third album titled “Outside”… it’s definitely been worth the wait. The track was released earlier this fall, but it wasn’t until today that the video for the new single was released via Pitchfork, officially kicking off the launch of their album, due out January 11th, 2011 via Ibid Records. Check out the video below and download the track compliments of Ibid (Tapes n’ Tapes own label)… And catch them on tour in early 2011 at a town near you!
