Kim Logan: ‘Black Magic Boy’ (TSR Video Premiere)

October 1, 2012 1 Comment

What a way to kick off a week than with a South Rail exclusive video premiere! ‘Black Magic Boy’ is the first song to be released from Kim Logan‘s upcoming debut full-length album, which is dropping later this month on Halloween.

Logan, who calls her style “Southern Swamp Rock n’ Roll,” comes from Sarasota Florida via Nashville. And straight into the first seconds of the song and you can hear those “swamp” root sounds loud and clear. It definitely has our curiosity for what the rest of the album has in-store… Especially when it features Blackfoot Gypsies‘ Matthew Paige on guitar!

Check out the new video below and for a limited time only, download ‘Black Magic Boy’ for free! Also, keep up with details from the new record via Kim Logan’s Facebook HERE:

We can’t stress enough how much we love Ranch Ghost! Live, recorded… recorded live. It doesn’t matter. This Nashville 4-piece can do no wrong in our eyes… and their latest release, the sophomore 7-inch ‘Nahla,’ keeps on proving us right.

This is the band’s first studio recordings to be pressed on wax, recorded at Club Roar by Robin Eaton and Battle Tapes’ Jeremy Ferguson. Check out the record below and pick up your copy HERE via Cass Records while they last!

Okay now, we’re not ones for helping start rumors, but if this one’s true… WE CAN’T WAIT!!!

While casually checking our Twitter this weekend we noticed a tweet from Nikki Lane that said “Meet the Precious Stones” and featured an Instagram photo shown above (and HERE) that includes (from the left): Ruby Rogers from The Black Belles, Jessica McFarland from Heavy Cream, Nikki Lane, and Makenzie Green from Birdcloud. A pretty impressive line-up if you asked us!

But yeah, why assume that these 4 ladies are forming a band just because of this post and the fact they’re all musicians, right? Especially with Nikki, who has been in the studio this month recording with The Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach at his Nashville Easy Eye Sound Studio… But then, we saw this! Taken from a practice session last night:

Hopefully this new Precious Stones project sees the light of day… because with a line-up that has his kind of talent, we’re in for something HUGE:
