Thee Oh Sees are one of our favorite touring live acts out there right now… scratch that. They’re one of our favorite bands, period. With that said, today was extremely special because we got to hear the very first track from their upcoming ‘Putrifiers II’ LP, which drops from In the Red Records on September 11th… and per fashion, it is oh so good!
September 11th is really becoming the major release date so far! Along with Thee Oh Sees expect new tunes from Turbo Fruits, Avett Brothers, and Natural Child’s promised 3rd LP of the year!
But not to get side-tracked… Check out the single ‘Lupine Dominus’ below and check back with In the Red at a later date to pre-order ‘Putrifiers II’HERE… Also catch the band live at any of the dates below. For us Chattanooga kids, pick from Nashville, Atlanta or Birmingham… We highly recommend the Nashville show at The Zombie Shop w/ Ty Segall:

Last time we were on the subject of Denney and the Jets, the band had just released a Chuck Berry cover featuring Those Darlins’ Jessi Darlin — See full post here — and were wrapping up an EP at Bomb Shelter Studios in Nashville.
Well, not only did they deliver another great gem, but with an album title of ‘Slick Rick,’ are in the running for best album name for 2012… Check out these 4 killer tracks before and if you dig what you hear, download the 4-song EP HERE and get the bonus track ‘Close the Blinds’ with your download!
But, if we were to criticize, our only complaint is, unlike their Infinity Cat debut, this sucker isn’t available on vinyl… Very turntable worthy tunes:
A couple weeks ago, stand-up comedian Marc Maron drove down to Nashville’s Third Man Records to do a one hour, one-on-one podcast interview with Jack White… And that podcast is now available on Marc’s WTF podcast for free download today!
We went into this interview pretty lighthearted, not thinking we’d be this blown away with its content… but no joke, this is the best Jack White interview we’ve ever heard (or read)! Take an hour out of your day and stream/download this sucker, you won’t be sorry:
Turbo Fruits, who just finished recording in Austin TX with Spoon’s Jim Eno at his Public Hi-Fi studio, will be releasing their third full-length studio album, ‘Butter,’ later on this Summer via Serpents and Snakes. At the same time, being able to offer limited edition releases via Turbo Fruits front-man Jonas Stein’s own Turbo Time Records… Releases like the limited edition lollipop colored 7-inch vinyl of the single ‘Sweet Thang,’ the very first single released from those Jim Eno sessions… But good luck getting 1 of these 100 beauties, that sold out in less than a day! Click HERE for details.
We were one of those lucky 100 and decided to record the live playing of the record’s A-side ‘Sweet Thang.’ Being HUGE fans of Turbo Fruits’ sophomore LP ‘Echo Kid,’ we were in huge anticipation in hearing this new single… and once that needle dropped, we were blown away! Take a listen to the track below (Note: This was done in low quality to avoid anyone from ripping the audio):
Not to forget The Weeks, a great band we had the privilege of catching several times here in Chattanooga, who are working on their new album now, set to release in 2013. It will be the follow-up to the EP ‘Gutter Gaunt Gangster’ that dropped last Fall. Stream the EP below and pick-up a second-pressing (soon) HERE or on tour. Great stuff:

On April 1st, Jack White‘s Third Man Records posted a video that featured the TMR staff releasing blue helium balloons in the air. Each balloon having a flexi-disc 7-inch single of Jack White’s ‘Freedom at 21’ attached … a video that at the time, we took as an April Fools joke [watch here]… The next morning, we discovered that this was no joke, but reality!
Not only that, but we found that the wind that day took the balloons for a ride south-east of Nashville towards Chattanooga. And since that morning of Monday the 2nd… we have been obsessed, using every spare second looking for popped blue balloons on the ground or hanging from a tree. This video can fill you in:
Using TMR’s balloon website, you can see where balloons have been found by using a Google Map that show all the locations along with a photo of the lucky scavengers with their prize. Check the balloon site HERE to learn more… and scroll down to the bottom of the page to see where balloons have been tracked… But, let us warn you, searching for these things start to become an obsession. Especially when you see pictures LIKE THIS!
In other Jack White single news, the official video for ‘Sixteen Saltines’ dropped yesterday…. And WOW… We can’t stop watching. Very dark and the complete opposite to his first single ‘Love Interruption’ from his upcoming LP ‘Blunderbuss.’ Compare and contrast both videos below and pick-up 7-inch of the single HERE:
Oh, and if you’re in Nashville for Record Store Day on April 21st, you can pick up these 2 different versions of the ‘Sixteen Saltines’ single ONLY at Third Man Records’ physical location, which includes the Liquid Filled Record 12″ vinyl version of the single! Check out details to that and all the other TMR Record Store Day releases right here:
Nashville’s Denney and the Jets have just finished recording a 4 song EP at Bomb Shelter Studios, the now famous recording space where Alabama Shakes recorded their debut LP ‘Boys & Girls.’ … But during that session, a track was born that doesn’t appear on the EP… a Chuck Berry cover that features the one and only Jessi Darlin from Those Darlins!
Thanks to Denny and the Jets, the single isn’t going to die on the cutting room floor, but flourish on the internet! Check out this AMAZING track below that is available to stream and/or free download… oh, and before you even listen… you’re welcome! Enjoy:
UPDATE (4/6): A small correction, along with Jessi, this song was recorded with Natural Child in their recording space, not at Bomb Shelter
