Polish your ears with this hot track from Okey Dokey… We recently stumbled across this fine Nashville collaboration fronted by Aaron Martin and Johny Fisher (Sol Cat & The Weeks), in addition to a band consisting of ever-changing members of The Weeks, Sol Cat, Desert Noises, Diane Coffee, Wild Child, Turbo Fruits/Bully, Rayland Baxter & more!
The band’s debut single, ‘Wavy Gravy,’ dropped earlier this year and is just a small taste from the band’s first full-length, ‘Love You, Mean It,’ which the band says via their Facebook page, is dropping “this Summer.”
Dig into Okey Dokey, purchase the debut single, ‘Wavy Gravy’ HERE… and keep your eyes pealed for ‘Love You, Mean It!’… Although there is no mention of tour dates or upcoming shows, we look forward to catching these guys very soon!
P.S. Frontman Aaron Martin is not only a musician, but a visual artist as well. He has crafted album art, posters and other means for numerous bands, such as TORRES, Diarrhea Planet, The Kingston Springs, Birdcloud, Blackfoot Gypsies, Hellbender, The Ettes, The Jag, & Alanna Royale. Read more about his “craft” HERE & HERE .
Okay now, we’re not ones for helping start rumors, but if this one’s true… WE CAN’T WAIT!!!
While casually checking our Twitter this weekend we noticed a tweet from Nikki Lane that said “Meet the Precious Stones” and featured an Instagram photo shown above (and HERE) that includes (from the left): Ruby Rogers from The Black Belles, Jessica McFarland from Heavy Cream, Nikki Lane, and Makenzie Green from Birdcloud. A pretty impressive line-up if you asked us!
But yeah, why assume that these 4 ladies are forming a band just because of this post and the fact they’re all musicians, right? Especially with Nikki, who has been in the studio this month recording with The Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach at his Nashville Easy Eye Sound Studio… But then, we saw this! Taken from a practice session last night:

Hopefully this new Precious Stones project sees the light of day… because with a line-up that has his kind of talent, we’re in for something HUGE:
As we told you earlier this year, Natural Child planned on dropping 3 LPs in 2012 — The reissue of ‘Bodyswitchers’ in March (originally released on cassette via Infinity Cat) and ‘For the Love of he Game’ that dropped on Burger Records on April 20th, and now ‘Hard In Heaven,’ which is also coming out via Burger Records on September 11th!
The first single from ‘Hard In Heaven’ is a track called ‘B$G P$MP$N,’ and in per a typical Natural Child fashion, simplistically and almost effortlessly kills it once again… Check out the hot track below and also catch Natural Child all over this US this Summer! And if you live in Texas, the Nashville 3-piece just announced an 8-city mini tour focused just on the Lone Star state w/ Birdcloud… How ’bout bring that kind of line-up to Chattanooga? Just sayin’…
And since we’re talkin’ Birdcloud, check out the video to their latest single HERE… enjoy:

During our Five Questions with Birdcloud interview with the band right before Valentine’s Day, the Nashville 2-piece told us about a little line-dance number they were working on. “Our new hit ‘FUK U COP’ is a line dance… it’s gonna be super produced and real nineties pop country soundin’. Just retarded. The joy of my life.”
Well, wait no longer! The video for ‘F*ck You Cop’ dropped today and the Birdcloud ladies lived up to their promise. Definitely worth the wait! Check out their new video below and catch them on tour with Natural Child this Summer. See the full dates HERE:
The ladies from Birdcloud are stopping by Chattanooga’s JJ’s Bohemia TONIGHT for a special Valentine’s Day show and we had the honor to interview the Nashville duo about new music, videos and more:
A lot of big things have happened since Birdcloud’s last visit to Chattanooga in September. Between 2 official music videos, studio time at Battle Tapes Recording and a Three’s Company theme song collaboration to promote one of your latest shows in Nashville with Ri¢hie and D. Striker
. What’s next for the Birdcloud team in 2012? More tunes from the studio?
Makenzie:“Duh. Yeah, we are in the process of recording our second EP. Super excited about the direction of our songwriting. The response to the ‘Warshin’ video has been BADASS. We’ve had the best time writing and thinking of new concepts for videos and party tricks. Our new hit ‘FUK U COP’ is a line dance… it’s gonna be super produced and real nineties pop country soundin’. Just retarded. The joy of my life.”
Jasmin:“Yeah, and more merch and more records this year. Hopefully in 2012 can do some shows where we can fly through the air at venues like Garth Brooks and have wireless headsets instead of mouth microphones.”
Birdcloud were first known for their YouTube videos featuring live performances of songs from your debut self-titled EP… the most recent for the single ‘Springwater’ that features a brief interview with David Cloud. Are there any new video projects in the works?
Jasmin:“We did make out with our friend Day’s dog at a party and filmed it in slow motion. We will be putting out a call to friends of Birdcloud for videos of them making out with their own dogs, so we can make a compilation video for ‘Bandit.’ But just good clean slow-mo fun, nothing weird. Also gonna get together and make something new with the Duensing brothers at 80JD.net who did our ‘Warshin’ video. They’re the best. And we’re in the choreography process for a new video with a line dance that sort of goes with the sobriety test. It’s for a new song about cops.”
Makenzie:“We’re shooting at the end of the month with an amazing director. He just did the newest Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard video for a song called ‘Willie’s Guitar.’ Real pro stuff.”
When you played Chattanooga’s Lindsey Street Hall last Fall, we couldn’t help but notice your harmonic playing and stage presence. When did this style of playing first start and what other tricks do you have up your sleeves… or should we say skirts?
Makenzie:“We were drunk at a BBQ and I had recently started doing stupid improv songs about friends physical qualities. Like ‘Big Eyed Megan’ or ‘Tracy You Freak Me Out In Real Life.’ Anyway, me n’ Jas just started doing it to each other in each others faces, gettin’ wild and the energy was out of control. It was definitely more for each other at that point. Our friend Jordan Lehning booked us a show at the Mercy Lounge like a week later. It was crazy. The party tricks and bullshit is kinda a more recent thing. We have a deaf interpreter that does American sign language for ‘Warshin.’ Shes amazing! We’ve had Ri¢hie from Ghostfinger solo all over springwater, a man with a bucket on his head beatin’ the hell outta himself during ‘Indianer’ and the wonderful crotch harmonica solo orgasm that rules. Jasmin gets in there.”
Regardless of the topics in your lyrics, we can hear a huge musical background behind your harmonies and melodies. We are familiar with Jasmin’s solo project, but can you fill us in with the true history behind the pre-‘Indianer’ Birdcloud?
Jasmin:“Me and Mak both grew up listening to country music, and my mom wrote for country music for a living. Our exposure levels were both pretty high, even though my solo music isn’t country influenced. Makenzie has a photographic memory for songs. She knows all the words to all country songs I think, especially from the 90’s. So she’s got ears and mouth for country music, and we like all the same things, like when a song ends with the part at the beginning and dumb pauses before words for emphasis. We’re at the same level on guitar, so she thinks my shitty solos are badass. We just keep tearing it up and having fun.”
We our honored to have you both back in town to grace our stage for Valentine’s Day at JJ’s Bohemia. Can you tell us what Chattanooga has in-store?
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!! We will be back from our “Holiday Hiatus” this week with our top albums of 2011 and ending the year with The Features at The Honest Pint here in Chattanooga… But until then, enjoy this new holiday classic from our friends Birdcloud who digitally released their single ‘Cool Christmas’ earlier this month… and we’re serious when we say ‘classic.’
Recorded in Nashville with producer Jordan Lehning using Randy Travis’s microphone, what else can you ask for? Not your typical Birdcloud sound, but it shows that this band is getting into BIG things in 2012!.. Check out the official video below and if you dig what your hear, download the single below or HERE on iTunes:
Nashville’s Birdcloud, know for their face-to-face home videos (see examples HERE), have finally dropped their first OFFICIAL music video for the song ‘Warshin’ My Big Ol Pussy.’ A catchy song complimented with a fun video… and a great act to see live too! The song is off the band’s debut, self-titled EP, which can be purchased HERE or from iTunes HERE… but keep a look-out for an other EP release in the near future!
