Okay now, we’re not ones for helping start rumors, but if this one’s true… WE CAN’T WAIT!!!
While casually checking our Twitter this weekend we noticed a tweet from Nikki Lane that said “Meet the Precious Stones” and featured an Instagram photo shown above (and HERE) that includes (from the left): Ruby Rogers from The Black Belles, Jessica McFarland from Heavy Cream, Nikki Lane, and Makenzie Green from Birdcloud. A pretty impressive line-up if you asked us!
But yeah, why assume that these 4 ladies are forming a band just because of this post and the fact they’re all musicians, right? Especially with Nikki, who has been in the studio this month recording with The Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach at his Nashville Easy Eye Sound Studio… But then, we saw this! Taken from a practice session last night:

Hopefully this new Precious Stones project sees the light of day… because with a line-up that has his kind of talent, we’re in for something HUGE:
Fellow blogger (Nashville’s Dead) Ben Todd’s band D.Watusi is stopping by Chattanooga this Sunday, July 15th along with Nashville’s Paperhead at Barking Legs Theater! And just like the PUJOL show last month at Collective Warehouse, this sucker is presented by the Mise En Scenesters (MES) Film Club!
MES are giving us their 2nd installment of their Teens In Trouble series showing the film Over the Edge. Movie starts at 8:30, bands play afterwards (our guess 10-ish). Admission is only FIVE BUCKS at the door! For details, go HERE.
Check out the track ‘Brother & Sister’ from D. Watusi’s debut LP ‘Dark Party,’ which is dropping later this Summer via Infinity Cat Records. The 7-inch which features the B-side ‘No Love Lost’ will be available at the show… Enjoy and see you there!

We had always been avid readers of Rolling Stone magazine since we were young music enthusiasts. But stopped subscribing just years ago, around the time they were telling us that Jonas Brothers had cranked out a 4-star album that ranked a top-40 album of the year status…
We bring this up because we were shocked by this Rolling Stone exclusive video premiere today for JEFF the Brotherhood‘s debut Third Man Records single & video for ‘Whatever I Want.’… NOT to sound negative about this exclusive at all– the publicity and exposure that JEFF the Brotherhood have been receiving for their latest LP ‘We Are the Champions’ has been amazing and VERY well deserved. What we are saying is that it is nice to see great music finally changing the industry. And it gives us FAITH (and a bit of relief) to see this happening with a band we have watched grow… and who we extremely enjoy.
Nashville’s Denney and the Jets first vinyl release, the 7-inch single ‘Killin’ Machine,’ dropped this week via Jeff the Brotherhood’sInfinity Catlabel and has been on sale for a couple weeks at Grimey’s New & Pre-Loved Records. But today marks the official release day with that band’s album release party, sharing the stage with Nashville’s Nikki Lane(who is also releasing a record tonight) and Alabama Shakes (headliners) via The Basement in Nashville. On top that, the artwork for the 7-inch (shown above) was designed by Those Darlins‘ Jessi Darlin!
If you are in the Nashville area tonight or are close by, this is definitely a can’t-miss-show! Doors open at 9, only 7 bucks… But if you can’t make it, pick up your copy of ‘Killin’ Machine’HERE. There are only 350 of these limited edition, hand numbered suckers, so move fast!… and check out the a-side below.
