Bully is the newest band to catch our ear from Nashville, a town that can’t stop cranking out amazing music. Their debut EP just dropped this week via Theory 8 Records and with just 4 tracks, has us craving for more.
Then you add the fact that front-woman Alicia Bognanno not only had her songwriting and vocal/guitar duties on the record, but she also recorded her band’s entire EP herself at Battle Tapes Recording in Nashville! Pretty damn impressive if you ask us!
Dig into Bully’s EP below and if ‘yer lovin’ it, pick up the 7-inch HERE… or if you’re in Nashville October 11th, swing on by The Stone Fox and catch the 4-piece at their record release show along side PUJOL and Study Hall:
HOT DAMN! Nashville has been cranking out nothing but gold lately and Promised Land is definitely one of those newer bands we can thank for that. We’ve only had the chance to catch this 4-piece fronted by Joseph Scala (Denney & the Jets, PUJOL) live once, but with that one short set, we were sold and have been highly anticipating recorded material from them ever since.
Well, that wait is officially over… Stream the new 5-song EP ‘Stoned Eagle’ below and download a copy for $6 HERE. No word on a physical release, but we’re sure it’s well on its way. We’ll keep ya posted:
Fellow blogger (Nashville’s Dead) Ben Todd’s band D.Watusi is stopping by Chattanooga this Sunday, July 15th along with Nashville’s Paperhead at Barking Legs Theater! And just like the PUJOL show last month at Collective Warehouse, this sucker is presented by the Mise En Scenesters (MES) Film Club!
MES are giving us their 2nd installment of their Teens In Trouble series showing the film Over the Edge. Movie starts at 8:30, bands play afterwards (our guess 10-ish). Admission is only FIVE BUCKS at the door! For details, go HERE.
Check out the track ‘Brother & Sister’ from D. Watusi’s debut LP ‘Dark Party,’ which is dropping later this Summer via Infinity Cat Records. The 7-inch which features the B-side ‘No Love Lost’ will be available at the show… Enjoy and see you there!
Also, check out Paperhead and download the track ‘Pictures of Her Demise’ from Paperhead’s latest Trouble In Mind Records 7-inch release:

Back in September we posted about ‘Mayday,‘ the first single from PUJOL‘s latest EP, ‘Nasty, Brutish, and Short,’ which dropped October 18th via Saddle Creek Records… Well, the video for that single debuted today on Rolling Stone!!! And just like when this happened to fellow Nashville-bros JEFF the Brotherhood in October for their Third Man Records released ‘Whatever I Want’ video, we are extremely excited!.. Check out an excerpt from that RS premiere article and the video below… oh, and read the full RS article HERE:
“… The video for “Mayday,” the fuzzed-out garage-pop track that kicks off the EP, finds Pujol engaging in some good-natured competition with friends, including card games and a little harmless knifeplay. The sportsmanship portrayed “begets something between the two parties involved,” explains [frontman Daniel] Pujol, “like a music video or human synergy, as opposed to the brinksmanship and funky power struggles of a zero-sum game for exclusive wieners and losers.”…”
PUJOLis no stranger to great record labels… from Jack White’s Third Man Records, to Jonas Stein’s Turbo Time Records, Jeff the Brotherhood’s Infinity Cat Records and not to forget Jeffery Drag Records. Nashville’s Daniel Pujol has been up to a lot of big things the past couple years. And to add that notch to the ‘ol label belt, PUJOL’s Saddle Creek Records debut EP is set to drop October 18th!
The EP is called ‘Nasty, Brutish, and Short’ and comes printed on a 10″ tye dye vinyl for only $11! Pre-order your copy HERE… And for a limited time (and a simple cost of an email), download yet another version of a classic PUJOL song (and one of our favorites) ‘Mayday,’ which is the first track off the EP… Also catch’em on tour this fall with Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, Turbo Fruits and Ty Segall!
